Generic Medrol (Predmet Tablets) is a potent anti-inflammatory steroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Methylprednisolone is used to treat many different conditions such as allergic disorders, endocrine disorders, skin conditions, ophthalmic diseases, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, breathing disorders among others. Generic Medrol is used to treat the following indications:
Endocrine Disorders: Primary or secondary adrenocortical insufficiency, Congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Nonsuppurative thyroiditis. Hypercalcemia associated with cancer.
Rheumatic Disorders: As adjunctive therapy for short-term administration in: psoriatic arthritis; rheumatoid arthritis, including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis;acute and subacute bursitis; acute non specific tenosynovitis; acute gouty arthritis; post-traumatic osteoarthritis; synovitis of osteoarthritis; epicondylitis.
Collagen Diseases: During an exacerbation or as maintenance therapy in selected cases of: systemic lupus erythematosus; systemic dermatomyositis (polymyositis); acute rheumatic carditis; polymyalgia rheumatica; giant cell arteritis.
Dermatologic Diseases: pemphigus; bullous dermatitis herpetiformis; severe erythema multiforme (Stevens-Johnson syndrome); exfoliative dermatitis; mycosis fungoides; severe psoriasis; severe seborrheic dermatitis.
Allergic State: Control of severe of incapacitating allergic conditions intractable to adequate trials of conventional treatment.
Ophthalmic Diseases: Severe acute and chronic allergic and inflammatory processes involving the eye and its adnexa.
Respiratory Diseases: symptomatic sarcoidosis; Loeffler’s syndrome not manageable by other means; berylliosis; fulminating or disseminated pulmonary tuberculosis when used concurrently with appropriate antituberculous chemotherapy; aspiration pneumonitis.
Hematologic Disorders: idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura in adults; secondary thrombocytopenia in adults; acquired (autoimmune) hemolytic anemia; erythroblastopenia (RBC anemia); congenital (erythroid) hypoplastic anemia.
Neoplastic Disorders: For palliative management of: leukemias and lymphomas in adults; acute leukemia of childhood.
Edematous States: To induce a diuresis or remission of proteinuria in the nephrotic syndrome, without uremia, of the idiopathic type or that due to lupus erythematosus.
Gastrointestinal Diseases: To tide the patient over a critical period of the disease in: ulcerative colitis; regional enteritis.
Nervous System: Acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis; management of edema associated with brain tumour.
Miscellaneous: Tuberculous meningitis with subarachnoid block or impending block when used concurrently with appropriate antituberculous chemotherapy. Trichinosis with neurologic or myocardial involvement.

Generic Medrol Tablets - Active Ingredient

The active ingredient present in Generic Medrol Tablets (Predmet Tablets) is Methylprednisolone.

Generic Medrol (Predmet Tablets) - Contraindications

Generic Medrol is contraindicated in patients that have a hypersensitivity to Methylprednisolone or any inactive ingredient present in Generic Medrol Tablets. It is also contraindicated in patients who have systemic infections unless specific anti-infective therapy is given.

Generic Medrol Tablets - Storage Instructions

Keep Generic Medrol in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Protect the medication from light. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.

Generic Medrol Tablets - Dosage

The initial recommended dosage of Generic Medrol (Predmet Tablets) may vary from 4 mg to 48 mg of methylprednisolone per day depending on the specific condition being treated. In situations of less severity lower doses will generally suffice while in selected patients higher initial doses may be required.
Clinical situations in which high dose therapy may be indicated include multiple sclerosis (200 mg/day), cerebral oedema (200 - 1,000 mg/day), and organ transplantation (up to 7 mg/kg/day). The initial dosage should be maintained or adjusted until a satisfactory response is noted. If, after a reasonable period of time, there is a lack of satisfactory clinical response,Generic Medrol should be discontinued and the patient transferred to other suitable therapy. If the medication has to be stopped after long-term therapy , it is recommended that it be withdrawn gradually rather than abruptly.

The side effects of Generic Medrol Tablets (Methylprednisolone) are given below:
Metabolism and nutrition disorders: Sodium retention; Fluid retention; Alkalosis hypokalaemic; Increased appetite (which may result in Weight increased); Increased requirements for insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents in diabetics; Metabolic acidosis; Glucose tolerance impaired.
Cardiac disorders: Cardiac failure congestive.
Vascular disorders: Hypertension; Hypotension.
Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: Hiccups.
Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders: Arthralgia; Growth retardation; Muscular weakness; Myalgia; Myopathy; Neuropathic arthropathy; Osteoporosis.
Injury, poisoning and procedural complications: Tendon rupture;Spinal compression fractures; Pathologic fractures; Muscle atrophy; Osteonecrosis.

Withdrawal Syndrome: A steroid “withdrawal syndrome,” may also occur following abrupt discontinuance of glucocorticoids. This syndrome includes symptoms such as: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, headache, fever, joint pain, desquamation, myalgia, weight loss, and/or hypotension. These effects are thought to be due to the sudden change in glucocorticoid concentration rather than to low corticosteroid levels.
Nervous system disorder: Amnesia; Cognitive disorder; Dizziness, Headache, Intracranial pressure increased (with papilloedema [benign intracranial hypertension]); Convulsions.
Psychiatric disorders: Abnormal behaviour, Affective disorder (including Affect labililty; Depressed mood; Euphoric mood; Psychological dependence; Suicidal ideation); Anxiety; Confusional state; Insomnia; Irritability; Mental disorder; Mood swings; Personality change; Psychotic behaviour; Psychotic disorder (including Mania; Delusion; Hallucination; and Schizophrenia [aggravation of]).
