Treatment of Arthritis and Inflammatory Conditions Using Generic Voltaren Tablets

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis is a degenerative joint disease, that involves inflammation of one or more joints. There are over 100 different types of arthritis. The most common form, osteoarthritis involves the breakdown of cartilage. The breakdown of cartilage can take place as as a result of trauma to the joint, infection of the joint, or age. This causes causes the bones to rub against each other, causing stiffness, swelling (inflammation), pain and loss of movement in the joint. Other forms of arthritis include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and related autoimmune diseases. Septic arthritis is caused by joint infection. The main complaint among individuals who suffer from arthritis is joint pain. The pain is usually localized to the joint affected and is due to inflammation that occurs around the joint, damage to the joint from disease, daily wear and tear of joint, muscle strains caused by forceful movements against stiff, painful joints and fatigue.

Generic Voltaren Tablets (Voveran) – Product Information

Generic Voltaren (Voveran Tablets) is used to treat inflammatory and degenerative forms of rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, relief of acute or chronic pain states in which there is an inflammatory component as well as symptoms of menstrual pain (period pain). The active ingredient in Generic Voltaren (Voveran Tablets) is Diclofenac Sodium. Diclofenac Sodium belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Generic Voltaren (Voveran Tablets) is available in tablets of 50 mg and 100 mg.

Generic Voltaren (Voveran Tablets) - Contraindications

Generic Voltaren is contraindicated in patients that have hypersensitivity to Diclofenac Sodium or any inactive ingredient present in the product. Generic Voltaren should not be given to patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs because severe, rarely fatal, anaphylactic-like reactions to NSAIDs have been reported in such patients. Voveran Tablets (Generic Voltaren) is contraindicated for the treatment of perioperative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

Generic Voltaren - Dosage

The smallest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual patient treatment goals has to be used. Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water or other liquid. The recommended dosage of Generic Voltaren for various indications is given below:
For the relief of osteoarthritis, the recommended dosage is 100 mg once a day.
For the relief of rheumatoid arthritis, the recommended dosage is 100 mg once a day.
For period pain, the usual starting dose is 50mg to 100mg per day, beginning as soon as cramps begin and continuing until the pain goes away, but for no longer than 3 days.

Missed Dose

In case you forget to take your dose, take your dose as soon as you remember, and continue to take it as you would normally.In case it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose when you are meant to. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose that you missed.

Side Effects of Generic Voltaren (Voveran Tablets)

The most common side effects of Generic Voltaren (Voveran Tablets) occurring in approximately 1%-10% of patients are abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, gross bleeding/perforation, heartburn, nausea, GI ulcers (gastric/duodenal) and vomiting.Abnormal renal function, anemia, dizziness, edema, elevated liver enzymes, headaches, increased bleeding time, pruritus, rashes and tinnitus.
