Treatment of Nasal Polyps, Allergic Rhinitis and Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis using Generic Nasonex Nasal Spray

What is Allergic Rhinitis?

Allergic Rhinitis is an allergic inflammation of the nasal airways which occurs when an allergen, such as pollen, dust or particles of shed skin and hair of animals is inhaled by an individual with a sensitized immune system.
As soon as such a person comes into contact with an allergen, one or more of the following symptoms are noticed: itchy nose, mouth, eyes, throat, skin and face, fatigue, sore throat, dry cough, stuffy, runny nose , problems with smell, hearing, and taste, headaches, facial pain or pressure, swollen eyelids, sneezing and red, itchy, and watery eyes. medicines such as nasal corticosteroid sprays may help control allergy symptoms.

What are Nasal Polyps?

Nasal polyps are abnormal tissue growths of variable size, usually yellow, grey or pink in colour that grow inside the nasal passages and sinuses. Sinuses are small, air-filled cavities found within the bones of the face. You have sinuses on either side of your nose and behind your cheekbones, eyes and forehead.
Nasal polyps are most commonly thought to be caused by allergy and rarely by cystic fibrosis although a significant number are associated with non-allergic adult asthma or no respiratory or allergic trigger that can be demonstrated.
Nasal polyps can often be effectively treated with steroid medication. If you have one or more small polyps, your doctor may prescribe nose drops or a nasal spray that contains steroid medicine (corticosteroids). This can reduce inflammation in your nose and shrink your polyps. A type of nasal spray called Mometasone Furoate is usually recommended because it causes fewer side effects than other steroid sprays. The recommended dose is usually two sprays into each nostril once a day.
