Treatment of GERD Using Generic Nexium Tablets

Generic Nexium Tablets (Nexpro) – Product Information

Generic Nexium Tablets (Esomeprazole Magnesium) are used in the treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Risk Reduction of NSAID-Associated Gastric Ulcer, H. pylori Eradication to Reduce the Risk of Duodenal Ulcer Recurrence, Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions Including Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. Generic Nexium is available as Nexpro Tablets. Nexpro Tablets are manufactured by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd., India.
The active ingredient contained in Generic Nexium (Nexpro Tablets) is  Esomeprazole Magnesium, a compound that inhibits gastric acid secretion. Esomeprazole Magnesium is a white to slightly colored crystalline powder which is slightly soluble in water. 

Generic Nexium (Nexpro Tablets) - Contraindications

Generic Nexium is contraindicated for patients with a hypersensitivity to Esomeprazole Magnesium or any inactive ingredient present in Nexpro tablets.

Generic Nexium (Nexpro Tablets) - Dosage

Nexpro Tablets (Esomeprazole Magnesium) are available as oral tablets of 20 mg and 40 mg. Generic Nexium tablets should be taken at least one hour before meals. The recommended adult Oral dosage of Generic Nexium for adults is given below:
Treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Recommended Adult Dose: 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for 4 to 8 Weeks
Pediatric Dose for 1-11 years: 10 mg or 20 mg Once Daily, up to 8 Weeks
Pediatric Dose for 12-17 years: 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily, up to 8 Weeks
Dosage for Risk Reduction of NSAID-Associated Gastric Ulcer
Recommended Adult Dose: 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for up to 6 months
Dosage for Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions Including Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome:
Recommended Adult Dose: 40 mg Twice Daily
Dosage for H. pylori Eradication to Reduce the Risk of Duodenal Ulcer Recurrence Triple Therapy:
The recommended adult dosage is Generic Nexium 40 mg once daily for 10 Days, Amoxicillin 1000 mg twice daily for 10 Days and Clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily for 10 Days.

Side Effects of Generic Nexium (Nexpro Tablets)

The most common side effects reported in adult patients (18 years of age and above) treated with Generic Nexium with an incidence rate of 1% or more include headache, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, constipation, and dry mouth.
In case of pediatric use (1 - 17 years of age) the common possible side effects with an incidence rate of 1% or more include headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and somnolence
