Gravol is a brand name for the over the counter drug dimenhydrinate. Gravol Tablets are available in strengths of 50 mg. Gravol is also known as Dramamine, Driminate, Gravamin, Vomex, Vertirosan, Viabom, Dramin, Daedalon, Antimo, Hydrate, Dramoject, Dymenate, DMH, Triptone.

Uses Of Gravol Tablets

Gravol Tablets manufactured by Wallace Pharmaceuticals, India are indicated for the treatment or prevention and treatment of various forms of motion sickness, vomiting and dizziness due to motion sickness, prevention and treatment of nausea, Ménière's syndrome, vertigo due to other labyrinthine disorders, postoperative vomiting, medicine induced nausea and vomiting associated with radiation therapy, and migraine.

Dosage And Administration

The recommended adult dose is 50-100 mg with dosage repeated every 4 hours as required. Maximum daily oral dose is 500 mg. Avoid alcoholic beverages or any product containing alcohol while taking Dimenhydrinate. The recommended Children's Dosage is given below:
6-8 years: 15-25 mg, two or three times daily
8-12 years: 25-50 mg, two or three times daily
Over 12 years: 50 mg, two or three times daily

Gravol Tablets Side Effects

Gravol Tablets (Dimenhydrinate) can cause drowsiness, excitement or hyperactivity (especially in children), headache, ringing in the ears, dry mouth, nose, or throat, problems with coordination, fainting, nausea, dizziness and blurred vision. It can also impair your concentration and motor coordination. Hence you should not drive or do other things that require you to be fully alert. It can be especially dangerous to combine it with alcohol and other depressant drugs. The other side effects are dry mouth, excitation and nervousness. In case you experience the rarely occuring but serious side effects such as fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat call your doctor immediately.
