Finpecia Tablets - Product Information

Finpecia is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss on the vertex and the anterior mid-scalp area. Safety and efficacy have been demonstrated in men between the ages of 18 to 41 years with mild to moderate hair loss of the vertex and anterior mid-scalp area.

Active Ingredient

The active ingredient contained in Finpecia is Finasteride.

Generic forms and brand names of Finasteride

Various generic forms of Finasteride are available under various trade names that include Finpecia, Finax, Finast and Fincar. The original branded versions are Propecia and Proscar. Finpecia (Finasteride 1mg) and Propecia are marketed for male pattern baldness (MPB) and the Proscar (Finasteride 5 mg) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Finpecia is available as tablets of 1 mg of finasteride.

Finpecia - Storage Requirements

Finpecia tablets are to be stored at room temperature (15°C to 30°C) away from moisture and sunlight.

Uses of Finpecia Tablets

Finpecia tablets (Generic Propecia) manufactured by Cipla is used to treat male pattern baldness (MPB).

Finpecia Dosage

The recommended dosage is 1 mg orally once a day, with or without meals.
In general, daily use for 3 months or more is necessary before benefit is observed. If the drug is discontinued, any therapeutic benefits will be reversed.

Side Effects Of Finpecia

Side effects of finasteride include impotence (1.1% to 18.5%), abnormal ejaculation (7.2%), decreased ejaculatory volume (0.9% to 2.8%), abnormal sexual function (2.5%), gynecomastia (2.2%), erectile dysfunction (1.3%), ejaculation disorder (1.2%) and testicular pain. Resolution occurred in men who discontinued therapy with finasteride due to these side effects and in most men who continued therapy.
